LIE IN RUINS
[FINLAND]

Finland, just as any other Scandinavian scene, is famous for its Black metal. They also have some good Power metal bands. And melodic Death or Doom metal is vigorous as well. But what do we know about real, Finnish Death metal? If you are not a master of this style and don't know early bands as DEMIGOD, XYSMA or DEMILICH, you will need to take some time while finding a typical Death metal formation. However, there are some bands in nowadays Finland that effectively proclaim metaphors of death. LIE IN RUINS – a band that combined best elements on Finnish scene into one entity.

The quintet has started its existence in the year 1993, when Death metal flourished and the scene witnessed its best days. However, it appears that Finns prefer beer and other drinks to playing, so LIE IN RUINS were not too active until the start of the XXI century, when they have resurrected...

Just as an old predator, these Finns combine darkness, fear, mystery and enchanting spirit. This is Death metal, which can only be crafted by the masters from the country of a thousand lakes. Their music is slow enough for the doomsters, but, at the same time, it is highly mysterious and atmospheric to be compared with Black metal. They do not smear their guitars with sugar or honey, so riffs are morbid, while leads are played with passion and spread fear. The music is for those, who can accept the beauty from beyond. Last year they presented their first album “Swallowed by the Void” and this summer they would arrive to plant a seed of the northern darkness at the DEVILSTONE Open Air.
