GORATH [BELGIUM]
Belgian Black metal scene has never been among the leaders of the European Black metal movement, while they always had few formations, such as ANCIENT RITES or ENTHRONED, that widely proclaimed Belgian roots. Nowadays they have a new ambassador – a quartet, called GORATH, from Diepenbeek city.
Lead by the charismatic leader Filip Dupont, GORATH is one of the most active Belgian bands and, without doubt, one of the most interesting metal formations in the scene. Although GORATH can be described as traditional, fast and aggressive Black metal, their music has some atypical elements – dissonant guitars, acoustic interludes and strangely mystical flavor. However, musicians state: “We do not aim at being progressive or industrial, we only want to perform exceptional style of GORATH”.
The band was formed in 1996, but they have only become more active during 2003-2005, when full line-up was assembled. Since then, the band has released four widely acclaimed albums, but they admit that the real potential of GORATH can only be witnessed live. That's why they have already visited more than fifteen countries with their live set. However, the most important thing for GORATH is music – the only truth.
