IZEGRIM [NETHERLANDS]
Can metal and blondes be compatible things? This time one is forced to believe that “blondes are conquering the world”. And not just the “world”, but the world that has always belonged to the paunchy, sweaty and bearded men. Dutch band IZEGRIM says strict “No! – we need women!” It might be unbelievable, but during a more-than-a-decade-long career, IZEGRIM line-up included at least one bright-haired nymph.
When one sees IZEGRIM on stage, wrong thoughts can start coming up – “another ARCH ENEMY rip-off”, but hold on! They are an original band, well-known in their fatherland. They have been awarded with attention, because IZEGRIM has always stayed true to the underground and its spirit. They do not need profit, contracts, posh tour buses or luxurious hotels. They’d rather sit by the camp fire, where they’d honestly share a space with the fans, and open another bottle of beer. Also, they are very hard-working and serious about their music.
Band, existing since 1996, has been under constant rotation of the members for some time, but nowadays they feel self-confident and ready for conquest. Of course, when the avant-garde is held by restless bassist/vocalist Marloes, any hurdle is nothing. This charismatic femme can easily be called soul and forward-force of IZEGRIM. An expression “man under the feet” takes shape here, since not every man could growl into the microphone, slap thick strings and keep the audience awake. She does it perfectly! Her throat emits real thrash/death daemons and the music is an ultimate sin, worth witnessing at least once.
