Majority would agree that progress and evolution is the main life force. This could be applied to many areas. It happens that people remain bonded to the youthful ideals, while others are constantly searching for new forms of expression. Both cases are notably embodied within music, especially metal. Jørn Tunsberg – a man, who has been standing at the threshold of legendary IMMORTAL and HADES is now ready to deliver something fresh and interesting. No matter how conservative Norwegian black metalheads are, quite a few of them are already driving on the different track. Jørn has left the past ties with Varg Vikernes and his deeds and, along with Roy Nordaas, is exploring the uncharted territories. DOMINANZ – really top-notch, interesting and hellishly powerful band playing atmospheric and somewhat industrialized metal.

But where has is started? Maybe sales have decreased and the shrine of cash has depleted? Or maybe it is all about creativity and progress? Call this whatever you want – selling out, commerce, progress, innovation or contemporary metal. Probably, there are countless epithets, but music and performance of DOMINANZ do not lack energy, momentum and mass. Finally, if you are able to put those useless stereotypes and creeds aside, you definitely find something new and impressive. Yes, here we have more than usual keyboards. And guitars have that “poppy” sound, but, let’s admit, this band is more metal than those self-proclaimed true metallers. Really, DOMINANZ is like a breeze of fresh air in the world of metal.

DOMINANZ got a firm grounding only recently, in 2009, so the band is no stars yet. Quite unbelievably they haven’t even released a full-length album yet! Is the recording, called “As I Shine”, so bad that no label wants to release it? Or maybe the labels are still racing and offering more and more profitable deals continuously? Of course, we should shut up, but the potential of DOMINANZ is self-descriptive: exclusively attractive music for both, old metal wolves and youth that is searching for the new artistic dimensions.
